Gasometer Oberhausen Breaks the Million Mark

14.02.2025

In just eleven months, one million people visited the "Planet Ocean" exhibition. This makes the underwater show one of the most successful exhibitions nationwide, and the Gasometer Oberhausen is among the top five most-visited museums in Germany. Leading the list is the Deutsches Museum, which, with 1.4 million visitors per year, has attracted slightly more visitors than the Gasometer.

Avid diver Nadine Kortüm and her partner Janek Bockhoff (photo) even traveled to the Gasometer Oberhausen twice from Billerbeck, an hour away. The first time, the rush of visitors was so large that the two decided to come again at another time. It was worth it! Not only because the couple was thrilled with the exhibition, but also because they were the millionth visitor! As a thank you for breaking the million-visitor mark, Nadine Kortüm and Janek Bockhoff received the exhibition catalog, flowers, and a voucher for an exclusive picnic on the roof of the Gasometer structure in Oberhausen.

We are very happy for them and the success of this magnificent exhibition, which we are also very excited about.

And who knows, perhaps the Gasometer will even surpass the number of visitors to the Deutsches Museum by the end of the exhibition in November 2025! Keeping our fingers crossed.
