The Romans already used the hot thermal springs. Once the residence of the Margraviate of Baden and thus giving its name to the state of Baden, Baden-Baden city fell into oblivion after a devastating fire, before it experienced a renaissance as a spa town in the 19th century. The casino caused a further rush of an illustrious society from all over the world.
